Dialogue Poem
This poem is described in the article “Measuring Water with Justice” by Bob Peterson
We are eleven-year-old girls. I get my water in my house. | We are eleven-year-old girls. I get my water from the river. |
I go to the sink in my kitchen and turn on the faucet. | I have to walk a mile to the river and scoop it up with a bucket. |
When I turn on the faucet I can drink hot or cold water right away. | I have to boil my water because it is contaminated. |
I can take a shower or bath in my house for as long as I want. | I have to take a bath in the river. |
My mom puts our dirty clothes in the washing machine and the washing machine does all the work. | I have to wash my clothes direct in the river and I have to do all the work myself. |
I am happy to have clean water in my house. | I wish I had clean water in my house. |
