Dialogue Poem

This poem is described in the article “Measuring Water with Justice” by Bob Peterson

We are eleven-year-old girls. I get my water in my house. We are eleven-year-old girls. I get my water from the river.
I go to the sink in my kitchen and turn on the faucet.I have to walk a mile to the river and scoop it up with a bucket.
When I turn on the faucet I can drink hot or cold water right away.I have to boil my water because it is contaminated.
I can take a shower or bath in my house for as long as I want.I have to take a bath in the river.
My mom puts our dirty clothes in the washing machine and the washing machine does all the work.I have to wash my clothes direct in the river and I have to do all the work myself.
I am happy to have clean water
in my house.
I wish I had clean water
in my house.
