SUMMARY:Informational Session: Teaching for Black Lives Study Groups
DESCRIPTION:Jesse Hagopian\, Teaching for Black Lives co-editor and Rethinking Schools editor\, will facilitate a 50-minute informational session for educators interested in forming a Teaching for Black Lives study group in their school\, district\, or statewide. Participants will hear from study group coordinators\, Alana Ward\, Uniserv Director for The SCEA in North Charleston\, South Carolina; Jenifer King\, elementary teacher in Las Vegas\, Nevada; and Laura Ellis\, high school librarian in Rockville\, Maryland. \n\nBenefits\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThanks to the support of donors\, each study group receives free of charge: \n\nTeaching for Black Lives book for each participant (up to 20)\, study questions\, and meeting facilitation guide\nRethinking Schools magazine subscription for each participant (up to 20)\nIntroductory workshop featuring one or more editors of Teaching for Black Lives\nAccess to several invitation-only webinars and workshops (panel discussions on current events\, curriculum workshops\, campaign planning)\nClosing event featuring one or more special guests\nAccess to a network of other study groups and social justice educators across the United States\nDedicated administrative support for study group coordinators\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister to learn about the benefits and logistics. There will be time to ask questions and meet other educators in small groups.
